Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was trying to do something nice for a local team.

The Houston Astros were leading the Kansas City Royals 6-2 heading into the eighth inning Monday, just six outs away from advancing to the American League Championship Series.

Abbott, ever the opportunist, tweeted out a congratulatory message. But he jumped the gun.

The Royals rattled off five runs in the top of the inning and another two in the ninth to beat the Astros 9-6.

The tweet has since been deleted. But don’t worry, Governor—we saw it.
