Here’s a look at some unheralded players who played well yesterday.

 

Fred Lewis, Toronto Blue Jays

Lewis went 3-for-5 with a run to raise his average to .298.

 

Lyle Overbay, Toronto Blue Jays

Overbay went 2-for-4 with a HR and three RBI. He’s hitting just .190 but has 17 RBI.

 

Jose Molina, Toronto Blue Jays

Molina went 3-for-4 with two runs to raise his average to .278.

 

Homer Bailey, Cincinnati Reds

Bailey got a no-decision despite holding the Brewers to two runs on four hits over seven innings. He lowered his ERA to 5.21.

 

Cameron Maybin, Florida Marlins

Maybin went 1-for-4 with two runs, a HR, and three RBI. He’s hitting .242.

 

Luke Scott, Baltimore Orioles

Scott went 2-for-2 with a pair of HRs (8, 9). He’s hitting .259 with 19 RBI.

 

Kevin Millwood, Baltimore Orioles

Millwood, one of my streaming options yesterday , got a no-decision but gave up just three runs in eight innings with seven Ks. His ERA is 3.65.

 

Zach Duke, Pittsburgh Pirates (pictured)

Duke stared greatness (Roy Halladay) in the face and walked away with a victory. He gave up one run in six innings with five Ks to improve to 3-4 with a 5.08 ERA.

 

Cristian Guzman, Washington Nationals

Perhaps the least sexy .323 hitter ever, Guzman went 3-for-5 yesterday.

 

Ryan Sweeney, Oakland A’s

Sweeney went 4-for-5 with two runs to raise his average to .317.

 

Tyler Colvin, Chicago Cubs

Colvin went 3-for-4 with two runs to bring his average to .300.

 

Carlos Silva, Chicago Cubs

Silva continues to get it done. After holding the Rockies to two runs over six innings, he improved to 5-0 with a 3.35 ERA.

 

Matt Downs, San Francisco Giants

Downs went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI to raise his average to .269.
