A woman reportedly fell down an elevator shaft at Fenway Park on Friday night following the Boston Red Sox’s 1-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers.
ESPNBoston.com’s Gordon Edes reported that the unidentified female fell two stories, from the fourth level down to the second. She was found unconscious and transported to Beth Israel Hospital, where her condition remains unknown:
According to Melissa Hanson of The Boston Globe, the police were called in at 11:16 p.m. ET. One of Fenway Park’s elevator operators was alerted when he heard the woman hitting the top of the elevator car. The Boston Fire Department then shut off power to the elevator to ensure that the car wouldn’t drop any further and the victim could be rescued.

The Boston Fire Department tweeted out that the doors to the elevator opened—the cause of which is unknown—and that the Boston Police Department has taken over the investigation. It also described the process with which it extricated the victim from the elevator shaft:
The tweets by both Edes and the Boston Fire Department illustrate the seriousness of the event.
At the time of writing, no other information is known about the incident. As the Boston PD investigates the scene and collects evidence, a cause of the elevator doors opening may be revealed.
