I actually interviewed Gamel and Hobbs yesterday as part of my work for Pinstripes Plus.

Gamel was extremely polite and sounded eager to sign and get started. His brother Mat Gamel plays for the Brewers. He was in the majors all of last season, but hurt himself this spring and hasn’t made his way back to the majors yet. I’ve heard comparisons with his brother and Yankees prospect Corban Joseph as well.

Hobbs was very excited to get drafted and being from Las Vegas, he was born in Austin, TX though, he was very talkative. We discussed a no-hitter he threw in high school.

I’m going to try to do at least brief profiles on everyone in the draft over the next week. So stay tuned.
