The Yankees have targeted the bench as their area of weakness, but they continue to monitor the Cliff Lee trade talks just in case he falls to within their asking range.

So far, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated , the Mariners have asked for minor league catcher Jesus Montero plus two other prospects for Lee.

So far, the Yankees aren’t biting and may be waiting for the price to drop to one of their other catching prospects: Austin Romine, J.R. Murphy or Gary Sanchez.

Heyman reports that at least 12 to 15 teams have called the Mariners about Lee’s availability. Right now, it seems like everyone is waiting. The Yankees and other teams are waiting for the price to drop, while the Mariners are waiting for somebody to flinch and offer an impressive package.
