According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated , the Baltimore Orioles owner, Peter Angelos, doesn’t want his team to make trades with the Yankees. This means that the Yankees will not be able to land IF Ty Wigginton.
This is not exactly a surprise. The Yankees have been attached to Wigginton in rumors for almost all season now, but those talks have never gotten anywhere at all and now we know why.
It has been this way for a while. In the 90′s there was a very hot rivalry and it seems that even though that rivalry has faded, the fact that the Yankees regularly beat up on the O’s probably has not endeared the Yankees to Angelos. I cannot remember the last time these two teams have made a deal.
