The Yankees were losing 2-1 going into the 8th inning against the Indians last night, but a two-run home run by Curtis Granderson put the Yankees up 3-2 for good.

Here are some notes:

  • Granderson—or G-Unit—has been red hot lately. Over the last 14 games he has a .346 average and a .951 OPS. He also has three homers in the last two days.
  • Javier Vazquez notched another victory. He is 6-2 with a 3.05 ERA since June 1st.
  • In the 8th inning Joe Girardi called on David Robertson , not Joba Chamberlain , in the 8th inning signaling that Joba has lost his role as the 8th inning reliever .
  • The Yankees do not plan on sending Joba to the minors.
  • Speaking of losing their jobs, Sergio Mitre is not going to make his next start in place of Andy Pettitte . Instead Dustin Moseley will get the nod.
  • Alfredo Aceves threw a bullpen session on Sunday and is going to long toss today.

As much as some Yankee fans like bashing Granderson and Vazquez, where would the 2010 Yankees be without them? Especially Vazquez—he’s really held the rotation together.
