While the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds had a lengthy rain delay on Thursday afternoon, the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers had to stop their game for a far more interesting reason.

A squirrel got loose and ran onto the field.

The bizarre scene unfolded in the bottom of the eighth inning. The squirrel ran in from the wall along the third-base line and darted around on the field. After watching it sit in the grass for a few moments, Royals left fielder Ben Zobrist tried to guide the critter off the field.

The squirrel eventually finished wreaking havoc and made its way into a bullpen. Game on!
