Dan mentioned this in his game recap last night, but I thought I’d explain in a little more detail .

Nick Swisher left last night’s game in the eighth inning when an old biceps injury flared up. He initially felt something in his arm a few weeks ago, but thought nothing of it because it went away so quickly. He re-aggravated the injury while hitting in the batting cages between games last night.

Even though the injury occurred before the second game last night, Swisher thought it was minor enough to play through, but after an at bat in the seventh inning he felt it enough to notify manager Joe Girardi who took him out of the game.

“I just felt a little tug and Skip told me to go ice up,” Swisher said . “I’ll come in tomorrow, get some treatment and see how it feels. I don’t like to come out of games, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

“We have, what, 130 more games to play?” Swisher said. “You have to stay healthy, man. I just want to get back on the field.”

No word yet on whether or not Swisher will be in the lineup today, but chances are that with one outfielder already on the DL, Curtis Granderson , the Yankees will be cautious here. I don’t expect Swisher to be in the lineup tonight.
