Alex Cora and Jon Niese, I tell you. I actually missed tonight’s game, but was watching updates, and when I heard Cora hit a bases-clearing triple, I had to see how legit it was. It was pretty dang legit.

Niese had a heck of a start, allowing one run (a home run by Josh Willingham in the seventh) and striking out a career high of eight batters. He is now 5-0 since returning from the disabled list. Here are a few notes:

Ike Davis had an run-scoring ground out in the first.

After the Cora triple, Niese followed with a run-scoring double.

The Mets wore eye-catching white caps tonight for the Fourth of July weekend, I assume. I did not like them.

Francisco Rodriguez
pitched a third of an inning allowing two hits and got the save.

W-Jon Niese (6-2)

L-Luis Atilano (6-5)

S-Francisco Rodriguez (19)

Tomorrow’s game will start at 4:05 p.m. and will be broadcast on FOX.
