After an offseason of analyzing teams on paper and making predictions based on potential, there are finally some on-field results to influence this week’s MLB power rankings.

However, we are dealing with an incredibly small sample size at this point, so potential and overall outlook will play a significant role in where teams fall.

This is a fluid process, with teams rising and falling based on where they were ranked the previous week. If a team keeps winning, it will keep climbing—it’s as simple as that.

So while the first week of action influenced teams’ climbing and dropping, don’t expect these rankings to mirror the current standings.

Overall, this week’s changes were mostly minor shuffling, with more substantial moves to come as teams get some games under their belts.
