Sano Awaiting Test Results

Thursday, June 2

Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reported Sano had an MRI but hasn’t received the results yet.

Sano‘s Absence Is Critical Loss for Twins

This will be a significant blow to Minnesota’s lineup if Sano is forced to miss extensive time.

The Twins called him up in July 2015 as an extra source of offense for the season’s stretch run, and he immediately delivered. He finished with a .269 batting average, 18 home runs, 52 RBI and a .915 OPS in 80 games in his rookie campaign.

He even drilled 12 long balls in his first 45 contests at the major league level and joined some impressive company in the process, per ESPN Stats & Info:

Thus far, Sano has hit 11 home runs and 27 RBI. He’s proved to be the most dangerous part of the Twins’ lineup, and it will be tough for them to replace him, even for a short amount of time.

If the Twins plan on contending in the American League Central this season, they need Sano to return to the lineup as quickly as possible.
