Tim Byrdak has been playing professional baseball since 1994, so the free agent is in unfamiliar territory right now because he is without a job as MLB teams have reported to camp.

The 40-year-old decided to take matters into his own hands:

Byrdak made only eight appearances in 2013 after recovering from major shoulder surgery. His earned run average has climbed each season since 2009, which could be a reason why he remains unsigned. A major injury at his age certainly doesn’t help his cause.

The southpaw has pitched for five MLB teams in his 12-year career. Now, for his wife’s sake, Byrdak is hoping to find a team to pitch for in 2014.
