Hitter of the Week:
Albert Pujols had not had a good May but he finally showed signs of turning things around this past week.  His average wasn’t the best in the league at .364 (8-22), but he tied for the league lead with four HR (he had three in one game).  He also tied for the league lead with nine RBI (with David Ortiz and Robinson Cano).  Throw in six R and the best player in the game did enough to take home the award.

• Carlos Gonzalez – Colorado Rockies – .421 (8-19), 3 HR, 5 RBI, 9 R, 2 SB

• Miguel Cabrera – Detroit Tigers – .615 (8-13), 4 HR, 8 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB

Pitcher of the Week:
I could have given it to a two-game winner and considering I didn’t give the award to Dallas Braden when he threw a perfect game that would be justified.  However, there was a difference between Roy Halladay’s and Braden’s, the number of strikeouts.  While Braden struck out six, Halladay had 11, which placed him in a tie for tenth in the league.  That was more the enough to put him over the top for this week and bring him home the award.
