Just because you’ve slipped behind in the Stolen Base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up.  Here are some reasonably available SB threats.

Corey Patterson, OF, Baltimore Orioles (pictured)
Patterson should be on your shortlist of players to add if you need speed. He’s hitting .288 with four SBs, 10 runs, two HRs, and five RBI since May 12. Corey is owned in 1.7 percent of ESPN and 9 percent of CBS leagues.

Will Venable, OF, San Diego Padres
There’s that name again. Over the past 15 days Venable has four SBs while hitting .265 with six runs and five RBI. On the year he has 12 SBs, a .235 average, 24 runs, four HRs, and 17 RBI. Will is owned in 13.3 percent of ESPN and 25 percent of CBS leagues.

Trevor Crowe, OF, Cleveland Indians
Since May 15 Crowe has three SBs while hitting .261 with five runs, one HR, and seven RBI. He’s owned in 0.9 percent of ESPN and 6 percent of CBS leagues.

Drew Stubbs, OF, Cincinnati Reds
You usually have to stomach a poor average with Stubbs, but he’s hitting .310 over the past 15 days. He has added three SBs, four runs, three HRs, and nine RBI. On the year he’s hitting .213 with 11 SBs, 22 runs, five HRs, and 21 RBIs. Drew is owned in 8.2 percent of ESPN and 38 percent of CBS leagues.

Everth Cabrera, SS, San Diego Padres
I had such high expectations for Cabrera, but he’s just not hitting. He hit .219 over the past 15 days (.212 for the year), though he did add three SBs and dour runs. He has seven SBs on the year with eight runs and 11 RBIs. He needs to improve his .257 on-base percentage to become a factor. Everth is owned in 30 percent of ESPN and 27 percent of CBS leagues.
