Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

 

Scott Podsednik & Mike Aviles, Kansas City Royals
Pods went 4-for-4 to raise his average to .293. Aviles went 3-for-4 to raise his average to .323.

 

Livan Hernandez, Washington Nationals
Livan gave up one run in seven innings with five Ks to improve to 6-4 with a 2.84 ERA. It was just his second win since May 5th, but Livan has been pretty steady for the bulk of the season.

 

Gio Gonzalez, Oakland A’s (pictured)
Gonzalez got a no-decision despite giving up just one unearned run on four hits in seven innings. He struck out nine as he lowered his ERA to 3.89.

 

Mike Leake, Cincinnati Reds
Leake also got a no-decision after allowing just one run in six innings. His ERA stands at 2.92, but he has just one win since May 16th.

 

Gerardo Parra, Arizona Diamondbacks
Parra went 3-for-4 with a run (10) to raise his average to .269. He is eight for his last 20 (.400). The Conor Jackson trade has given him more ABs.

 

Rodrigo Lopez, Arizona Diamondbacks
Lopez gave up three runs in eight innings to beat the Yankees and improve to 3-6 with a 4.59 ERA. It was his first win after four consecutive losses.

Robinson Tejeda, KC: two IP, zero Runs, three Ks (32 Ks, 34.1 IP)
