It is the best day of the Hot Stove seasonthe day you slog out to the mailbox, brush the snow off the top, open the front door and discover a highly-anticipated package from Baseball America.

It is the day BA’s annual “Prospect Handbook” arrives at your home.

It’s the day joy and wonder conspire to make spring seem that much closer to our doorstep! (I mean, seriously, it is truly wondrous that these books were in Carolina yesterday morning and in my mailbox this afternoon. Ah, the wonder of the US Postal Service!)

This year more than most, I think those of us who are snow-bound or snowed-in across the northeast and the mid-Atlantic states needed a jump start on contemplating the warmth of spring. The Prospect Handbook immediately transports the reader (mentally) to Florida (or Arizona)in my case, to City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, FLthe home of my beloved Red Sox.

Many thanks to Jim Callis and Will Lingo and the entire team at BA for bringing a large dose of sunshine and warmth into our cold and snowy existence today! We REALLY needed it…
