One day after celebrating his 42nd birthday, New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon is showing that age is just a number.

Colon led off the bottom of the fifth inning of Monday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with a line-drive single to left field. It was the second hit of the season for the pitcher, matching his total from a season ago. Crazily, his helmet managed to stay on his head as he swung the bat.

Then, when the Mets’ Juan Lagares hit a fly ball to right-center field two batters later, the 285-pound Colon tagged up and hustled over to third base. And the Citi Field crowd loved it.

Colon may be getting older, but he is still getting the job done.
