Tigers’ Ezequiel Carrera Lays out for a Catch in Center Field vs. Yankees

Detroit Tigers center fielder Ezequiel Carrera laid out for an incredible over-the-shoulder catch with the bases loaded on a ball hit to the warning track by the New York Yankees’ Jacoby Ellsbury.

Unfortunately, despite Carrera’s efforts, Ichiro Suzuki still scored. But this catch is one of the more impressive athletic displays we’ve seen all season.

Jack White (or His Lookalike) Looks Absolutely Miserable at a Chicago Cubs Game

A man that appears to be guitarist and singer-songwriter Jack White was in the house for the Chicago Cubs’ showdown vs. the San Diego Padres, and he did not look happy.

As you can imagine, the combination of a miserable-looking famous fan and the Cubs made the jokes almost too easy for some on Twitter.

Cheer up, Jack! At least the Tigers (from White’s hometown of Detroit) are solid this year!

We Remember: Nolan Ryan Puts Robin Ventura in a Headlock, Lays the Beatdown

There was bad blood between the Chicago White Sox and Texas Rangers’ Nolan Ryan, and after this 1993 beatdown from Ryan on Chicago’s Robin Ventura, there’s no doubt who came out on top.

Ryan, then 46 years old and 20 years older than Ventura, told the Austin-American Statesman (via Wikipedia) he used the same move on the steers on his Texas ranch as he grabbed Ventura, put him in a headlock and started whaling.

Ventura was thrown out of the game while Nolan was not.

Adam Dunn Denied Home Run After Ball Bounces off Wall Twice, Stays in Play

What are the odds of this?

On Friday night, Chicago White Sox outfielder Adam Dunn got about as close to hitting a home run as one can get with the ball bouncing off the top of the outfield wall twice while still remaining in play.

While it’s not completely clear whether or not the ball hit Houston outfielder L.J. Hoes’ glove, it looks like it hits the wall first and bounces on it again, which is absolutely mind-boggling.

The White Sox went on to win 3-2.

Boston Ball Girl Grabs Fair Ball, Immediately Realizes Her Huge Mistake

A Boston Red Sox ball girl grabbed a screaming line drive, and before she could even toss it to a fan, she realized she had made a huge mistake.

Foul Ball Shatters Glass, Angels Fan Enjoying Dinner Wants the Check

All one Los Angeles Angels fan wanted was to enjoy a nice night out at the ballpark, but a very rude foul ball quickly put an end to that.

When Seattle Mariners shortstop Brad Miller’s ball went foul, it shattered the glass next to where this fan and her date were eating. Judging her (fairly justified) look of contempt, she wanted to remove herself from the situation immediately, quickly asking the waiter for the check.

It looks like the next time these two get dinner, it will be at a place where errant fly balls aren’t a possibility.

“And that’s an easy play…oh, he missed him!”

The play-by-play announcer says it all, as Cincinnati’s Billy Hamilton pulled off one of the most elusive moves of the season to avoid a tag from Pittsburgh’s Gaby Sanchez and get on first.

With what appeared to be an easy out coming, Hamilton did a full hesitation move to avoid the tag and dive for first base.

Yasiel Puig Gives a Finger Wag After an out Call Is Overturned

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig channeled his inner Dikembe Mutombo after what he thought would be an incredible out at second was overturned.

After Detroit’s Torii Hunter was called out at second after a laser from Puig from right field, an official review overturned the call.

Puig was upset about the overturn and jokingly gave Hunter a finger-wagging warning that he has his number even though he didn’t get him this time.

David Ortiz Starts Walking to First Before Final Ball Hits Catcher’s Glove

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz knows his way around the plate. So well, in fact, that he doesn’t even need to hear the ball hit the mitt before he takes his free pass.

Chicago Cubs pitcher Neil Ramirez was just finishing his windup when Big Papi decided he was ready to stroll to first on a 3-0 count.
